Episode Context

As the premiere of Volume 3's nine-episode anthology, 'The Duel: Payback' serves as a direct sequel to the original 'The Duel' from Volume 1, making it a rare continuity thread in an otherwise standalone series. It reestablishes the Ronin's mission and introduces fresh adversaries, setting a high bar in tone and visual ambition for the diverse range of studios and stories that follow across the remaining eight episodes.
