The first episode manages to get us quite interested in what's going on. The pacing is really well done and the character designs make the main cast pull apart from the rest without being too egregious. Also! Gauma enters the scene, the best character!

This ep is a total vibe and the visuals are actually insane. We finally get the setup and character depth needed to introduce Gauma and this weirdly relatable cast.

Episode Context

As the first of twelve episodes, 'What Is a Kaiju User?' is pure foundation, introducing the core cast, establishing the world's rules, and delivering the inciting event that pulls ordinary people into extraordinary conflict. There's no preceding context to build on, so the episode carries the full weight of first impressions. It directly sets up Episode 2, 'What's Your Reason for Fighting?', which digs into character motivations and the deeper questions this premiere deliberately leaves unanswered.
