Hikari is fun to watch because even though she is repeatedly called Number Two, she still doesn't give up on her dream of defeating Kei.

Episode Context

Coming off the premiere's establishment of Hikari's one-sided rivalry with Kei and the Special A class hierarchy, this episode wastes no time introducing external conflicts that complicate their dynamic. The arrival of Hajime Kakei as an antagonistic force pushes Hikari and Kei toward reluctant teamwork, laying critical groundwork for the trust and emotional complexity that will define their relationship across the remaining 22 episodes. Early in a 24-episode run, this is a foundational episode that expands the cast while signaling the series will balance its romantic tension with escalating comedic challenges.
