Episode Context

Sitting past the two-thirds mark of a 24-episode run, this episode builds directly on the social groundwork laid by the barbecue gathering in Episode 16, deepening bonds that were tested there. 'Restraint & Smile' pivots focus toward Yahiro and Akira's complicated dynamic, advancing secondary relationship threads that become increasingly important in the back third of the season. It serves as a bridge episode, planting emotional seeds that the remaining arc will need to pay off.
