EPISODE REVIEWS

This first episode had a slow start, but it worked well. The animation looked clean, and the mood was set right away without feeling rushed. It took its time building the atmosphere. If you don't mind a slower start, this one is worth trying.

It's a very vintage art style, but it looks good. I'm not familiar with this franchise at all so there seems to be things I'm missing to fully get the premise of this first chapter. As a start it's a bit too slow paced for me but I thinks most older animes err on that side.

If you're a fan of Matsumoto's work, this is a must-watch. If you're new to the universe, it might be a bit confusing, but the themes of identity, mechanization, and rebellion are universal enough to draw you in. The involvement of Captain Harlock is teased, adding a layer of excitement for fans of the broader Matsumoto universe.
