Episode Context

As the series premiere of a 51-episode run, this episode lays the entire foundation: the soul-collecting mission, the meister-weapon partnership system, and the looming threat of Kishins that will drive the overarching narrative. Maka and Soul's introduction comes first, with other key duos set to be established in the episodes immediately following. Think of this as the first panel of a much larger mosaic, it prioritizes one partnership to hook you before the world expands significantly.
