Soukou Kijo Iris Special
Oshimeter
Synopsis
An elite armored knight pilot — think mech suits meets space opera — Iris Rebel gets shot down over a planet notorious for human trafficking and ends up captured, enslaved, and sold to a brothel owner in a place called Dark Town. Her elven partner Mei Li is missing somewhere in the chaos. That's the setup, and it doesn't get lighter from there. This is a one-episode special bundled with the Soukou Kijo Iris DVD box, adapted from a dark visual novel that mixes hard sci-fi with fantasy races — orcs, elves, interstellar federations — in ways that feel genuinely unusual for the genre. The world-building is surprisingly detailed for something this short, with a Space Federation backdrop and Soviet-flavored military units that give it a distinct aesthetic you don't see often. If you've spent time with Kuroinu or Taimanin Asagi and appreciated how those titles built out their dark fantasy settings before going where they go, this hits a similar note but with a science fiction skin over it. The tone is grim and the content is explicit — don't go in expecting anything softened. It's a brief window into a larger story, so treat it more like a prologue than a complete arc. If the blend of space military fiction and dark fantasy sounds like your thing, the source visual novel is where the full story lives.
