Synopsis
Elite pilots representing the best their unit has to offer, Iris Rebel and her partner Mei Li Naceri enforce law across a galaxy where humanity shares space with alien species. Their unit, the Special Armored Company #101, pilots giant humanoid mechs called Armored Knights — essentially space cops in walking tanks. When a mission drops them into a human trafficking operation on a planet called Left, things go sideways fast. Their ships get shot down, they get separated, and Iris wakes up enslaved by the very criminal element she was sent to dismantle. That's where this 4-episode OVA from 2007 goes — dark, and it doesn't pretend otherwise. The sci-fi setup is genuinely interesting, with actual worldbuilding around an interspecies federation and a Soviet-flavored security force. The premise echoes the gritty action tone of Kite or Mezzo Forte, where capable women get put through brutal situations and the line between action and exploitation gets deliberately blurry. If you've watched La Blue Girl and appreciated how it wrapped adult content around actual genre storytelling rather than just skipping straight to the obvious stuff, this scratches a similar itch. Based on a visual novel, the plot has more structure than you'd expect from this genre. It's not comfortable viewing, and it's not trying to be. The tone is oppressive by design — which, depending on what you're looking for, is either exactly the point or a reason to skip it entirely.
