Soshite Watashi wa Sensei ni...
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Before her parents' divorce, Kanna Kuraishi had everything together — good grades, a clean record, the whole model-student package. Then her parents divorced, and she just... stopped caring. Skipping class, tuning out, drifting. Her teacher, Ren Kisaragi, notices and decides to step in, which is where things get complicated. What starts as a concerned educator trying to reach a struggling student shifts into something far more provocative as the two navigate a relationship that keeps pushing against the lines it probably shouldn't cross. The tone here is deliberate and a little tense — this isn't a warm coming-of-age story, it's more interested in the uncomfortable gray areas between authority and vulnerability, care and control. The animation from studio Nur is clean and detailed, and the character work in those early episodes gives you enough grounding in Kanna's headspace that the dynamic between her and Kisaragi actually feels like it has some weight behind it. Four episodes total, based on an original story, so it's a quick watch. If you've seen something like Nande Koko ni Sensei ga and wanted something that leans harder into the tension rather than playing it for laughs, this scratches a different kind of itch. Fans of charged student-teacher dynamics in the vein of Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai might find the emotional undercurrent here more interesting than expected. Go in knowing what it is and you'll get exactly what it's offering.
