EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off the grueling Ryonan match and the lighter Episode 20 beat with Hanamichi's new basketball shoes, Episode 21 pivots to team-building by reintroducing Ryota Miyagi and forcing Shohoku's volatile personalities to coexist. At roughly one-fifth through the 101-episode run, this marks a transition from early individual character arcs toward the collective team identity Shohoku will need for tougher opponents ahead. The Hanamichi-Miyagi friction established here plants seeds for a partnership that becomes central to the team's evolution.
