The twist at the end should have been expected given it has been set up all along previous episodes, but the whiplash feels really heavy and painful, especially for Kikuhiko and Konatsu.

Just when things start to feel hopeful, everything suddenly falls apart. The story builds slowly, then hits all at once in a really emotional way. The plot feels simple, but the weight of the characters’ choices makes it powerful. It’s heartbreaking, and it stays with you after.

This episode was very sentimental and heartbreaking. I had never expected that Sukeroku and Miyokichi get this type of ending. Background music made the episode more tearful 😞.
