📖 SYNOPSIS
"Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Yotarou Hourou-hen" tells the story of Yotarou, a man released from prison during Japan's Showa Genroku era. Known as Yotarou, a term implying a somewhat foolish or anti-heroic nature, he seeks a fresh start. He is deeply moved by the rakugo performances of Yakumo, a master storyteller whose stage persona is that of the "grim reaper." Captivated by Yakumo's artistry, Yotarou asks to become his apprentice. The anime explores Yotarou's journey as he navigates the world of rakugo, learning the craft and finding his place in society during a transformative period in Japanese history. The series focuses on themes of redemption, finding purpose, and the power of storytelling.
