What an ending! I am sad that anime nowadays don't have this kind of vibe of ending anymore. They should apply this tense vibe to see who win and who lose.
This is a perfect finale. The final match is tense, the strategy is clever, and the appearance of Boshu's spirit is a heartfelt payoff for 20 episodes of build-up. The tsubame gaeshi is a legendary move in mahjong lore, and seeing Tetsuya pull it off with Boshu's help is the ultimate passing of the torch.
It's a supeb last episode of the series. I was shocked and mesmerized by how brilliant Tetsuya is in this match and how he managed to fool his opponent. The plot in this episode also progress smoothly and I like that the ending is like an open ending where a new season might be possible as well.
