Shin Hitou Meguri

Checking into a traditional Japanese inn with one goal — bring down a sex trafficking ring operating from inside its walls — an undercover detective has to blend in, gather evidence, and not blow his cover while navigating a place where everyone might be watching him just as closely as he's watching them. The tension comes from that slow-burn infiltration — figuring out who's involved, who's a victim, who's a threat, all while the inn's quiet, traditional atmosphere makes everything feel like it could collapse at any moment. The setting does a lot of heavy lifting here. There's something genuinely unsettling about corruption hiding behind sliding paper doors and wooden corridors. PoRO leans into that contrast, and the animation does a solid job rendering the traditional aesthetic in a way that feels grounded rather than generic. If you've seen Hitou Meguri The Animation or Hitou Meguri Kakuge Yu: Mao Hen, you'll recognize the style and general tone — this sits comfortably in that same space. Fans of Shin Hitou Meguri: Volume 2 will already know what to expect from the follow-up. It's a short watch at two episodes, adapted from a visual novel by Potage, so the story is focused and doesn't overstay its welcome. The adult content is front and center, but there's enough actual plot threading through it to give the whole thing some structure beyond the obvious.
