Another great episode with buildup to the plot. A lot of power struggles for the higher officials and glad to see how the main cast are interacting since it keeps growing.
I feel like Rei is suspicious but the story is still trying to pick up since the characters are still on their quest to find the jewels. He might be an important one to the story but the way he speaks about the information he has seems like a way to lead Kou on or maybe there is a bit of truth in them.
Like I said before the animation is nice, hand drawn anime of this era always had a nice look to it. The visual errors do stand out one in particular is the scene at the dinner table. The girl looks noticeably smaller her feet didn't even rach the ground. The plot is getting convoluted, though I figured the guy was working for the prince he said as much anyway it was the process of elimination. The guy seems to know about Kou's mother, or perhaps he's just leading him on, we will just have to see for ourselves.
