Episode 9 of The World's Strongest Rearguard is a modest improvement. The divine beast introduces a larger conflict, Theresia's curse is developed further, and the episode delivers genuine stakes. The animation is still weak, but the writing and worldbuilding are stronger here than in most episodes. If you're invested in the show's larger mystery, this episode delivers.
