Finally some Jin lore! He’s so quiet but his past feels so heavy. The duel in the rain gave me actual goosebumps—the sound design in this show is literally a 10/10. My heart hurts for him!

This episode shifts into a darker tone and it works really well. The animation during the bridge scenes feels sharper, and the tension is way higher than earlier episodes. You also see how differently Mugen and Jin handle serious threats, which makes their dynamic even better.

Episode Context

This wraps up the two-part 'Hellhounds for Hire' arc that began in episode 3, resolving the yakuza power struggle and testing the fragile alliance between Mugen, Jin, and Fuu early in their journey. As only episode 4 of 26, it's still establishing the group dynamic and the show's willingness to put its leads at odds with each other. The next episode, 'Artistic Anarchy,' shifts to a standalone story, signaling the series' episodic rhythm going forward.
