The setting is actually so relaxing. Kind of wild considering how hectic the show is.

That monster of a guy is actually terrifying! Mugen’s "breakdance-style" fighting is something I’ve never seen before. Seeing him use his environment—and his feet—is pure genius. This show’s energy is unmatched! 👟🔥

This episode leans hard into the show’s style. The hip-hop soundtrack mixed with the Edo setting just works, and the fight choreography on the bridge looks super fluid. Mugen and Jin’s contrast feels sharper here, and their chemistry starts carrying the show.

Goodness me this episode feels heavier and more emotional. Beneath the action, Oniwakamaru’s story hits hard he’s not really a monster, just broken and alone. It left me a bit uneasy, but also strangely sympathetic. I want more!

Mugen’s a beast, but yeah, he actually struggles here—shocking 😏 The pacing’s kinda slow, like they saved the good stuff for the last minute, but fine, it works. That ogre-like dude and the samurai assassin? Those fights still slaps. Tbh, trio's chaotic energy is contagious.😂

Alright I'm gonna be honest, this is probably one of the weaker episodes in the series, but I wouldn't say it's outright terrible. Personally I don't think there are any legit bad episodes of this show.

Really enjoyed this 2nd episode. Finding myself surprisingly invested in these characters already. Also, the art style is honestly beautiful. Almost like a moving wood block painting at times.

Episode 2 really hooked me. The revenge plot kicks in immediately, with Ryujiro nursing his bruised ego after Mugen humiliated him in the restaurant fight. I liked how the episode didn’t waste time — suddenly Fuu is kidnapped, and Mugen and Jin are forced into separate battles.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following the chaotic series premiere that threw Mugen, Jin, and Fuu together by circumstance, this episode pressure-tests their alliance by introducing immediate consequences and new threats. It functions as a crucial bridge between the explosive pilot and the longer journey ahead, deepening character dynamics while the trio is still sizing each other up. The groundwork laid here feeds directly into the upcoming 'Hellhounds for Hire' episodes, where themes of loyalty and survival on the road become central.
