Saki Episode of Side A Episode 7: Conviction

That’s exactly what bothers me. We finally get a normal pace where I can understand some of the drama happening during the mahjong match, but then suddenly, we get the “main character effect,” where our beloved protagonist somehow wins out of nowhere.I understand the whole “heart of the cards” idea (like Yu-Gi-Oh!), but here it feels like, “They have to win because the show must continue.”The good thing is that we now have a subplot involving Harue, which adds some extra flavor to the story.

Quite an emotional ride for me. The director did a great job creating a slow scene like this.

The emotional beats hit really hard here. The narrative was pretty solid in this episode. Also, I appreciate how they balanced the sad moments with small bits of comedy, so it never got too depressing. The pacing slows down to let you absorb everything, too.
