Ryuusei Tenshi Primaveil

Earth's only defense against an alien invasion rests entirely on the shoulders of two magical girls. Tsukuyo and Korona — pink hair and blue hair respectively — are the planet's only defense against the Markjins, extraterrestrials with a very specific interest in abducting women and wiping out everyone else. The setup is classic magical girl territory: transformation sequences, colorful fighters, world-ending stakes. But this is a one-episode OVA from 2006 with a hentai tag, so the tone shifts hard from the action premise into something much darker once the fighting goes sideways. Don't go in expecting Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha's earnest battle choreography — the magical girl aesthetic here is more of a framing device than a genre commitment. If you've seen something like Mahou Shoujo Ai or Mahou Shoujo Elena, you already know the territory: the transformation and combat elements exist alongside explicit content, and the sci-fi alien angle gives it a slightly different flavor than the more typical demonic threat setup those shows use. The character designs are genuinely distinct — vibrant, well-defined — and the alien invasion framing adds a pulpy edge that separates it from similar titles. It's a single episode adapted from a visual novel, so it moves fast and doesn't overstay its welcome. Go in knowing exactly what it is, and it delivers on its own terms.
