Rxxx: Prescription for Pain
Oshimeter
Synopsis
For years, Junichi Shiozaki has carefully maneuvered himself to the edge of the top job at Misono General Hospital, positioning himself to take over when the current president steps down. Then Serika Misono shows up — the president's daughter, freshly back from studying abroad, and she is clearly next in line. Junichi does not take this well. Rather than accept the situation, he starts scheming, and the hospital becomes his personal chessboard. This is a 2-episode OVA from 2002, adapted from a visual novel by studio Y.O.U.C, and it leans hard into its premise. The medical setting gives the whole thing a specific kind of tension — there is a hierarchy here, people have power over each other in ways that feel uncomfortably real, and Junichi exploits all of it. It is dark, it keeps moving, and the character dynamics are genuinely engaging rather than just window dressing. If you have already worked through Night Shift Nurses or Yakin Byoutou and you are looking for something with a similar hospital-politics edge, this fits that space. It shares that same mix of ambition and manipulation driving the story forward, with Shitai wo Arau as another point of comparison if you like your adult anime with actual plot threads holding things together. Going in knowing it is only two episodes helps — it is a tight story, not an epic, and it uses its runtime without a lot of filler.
