The episode continues the new character story and gives better emotional connection. The animation is colorful, with nice effects during action scenes. Lighting and visuals keep the same energetic style. The pacing is slower but helps character development

One of the better blend of character drama and action so far, especially for the main protagonist. It does so without losing its trademark playful energy. By the books? Sure. But it's effective, and that's all it needs to do.

Episode 8 successfully delivers the emotional depth that audiences have been waiting for. Instead of just focusing on mecha action or slapstick comedy, this episode takes the time to dig into the background and deepest motivations of the main protagonist. This move proves highly successful in providing a strong reason for why he fights, while shifting his initially cynical worldview into one that is more committed.
