It was a chaotic and hilarious first episode. The art style was not the usual smooth with clean fine lines, but the strokes were much thicker and the animation was kind of stiff. The visual gags were funny, including the Anzu being deprived from her own will.

The beginning of this anime establishes its characteristic humor and irony in a delightful way. Anzu's facial expressions, Riri's quirky personality, and the plot itself make it highly entertaining to watch. A perfect parodia of shojo clichés!

From the very beginning, it caught my eye how it seeks to break a pattern that gives meaning to the series. The characters are striking and unique, unlike anything I have seen before, and their style makes it clear from the start that they will become great meme material.

Anzu = gamer, choco lover, cat simp.
Riri fairy comes like: “YOU MUST ROMANCE.”
Takes her games, chocolate, and cat. Painful start but funny

Anzu, is a high school gamer whose life revolves around video games, snacks, and her cat. But then, a magical gremlin shows up and says, “You need romance.” She says, “Absolutely not.” War begins.

Episode 1 flips the romance formula by placing an independent girl inside a dating-sim setup she never wanted. Her resistance feels practical and relatable, not dramatic. Light pacing and sharp reactions make the absurd premise surprisingly comforting to watch. A strong start.

Loved how it opened by focusing on Anzu first — it made connecting with her easy. The facial expressions were hilarious and full of life! The chaotic start with her and Riri instantly pulls you in. Kazuki’s calm vibe balances her well.

9.5/10 — fun, fresh, and not boring at all!

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of twelve episodes, this premiere exists to establish the show's unique hook: an unwilling participant being dragged into a romance plot against her will. It introduces the core dynamic between Anzu and Riri that will fuel every comedic conflict across the season, and sets up the romantic interests and escalating scenarios Anzu will be forced to navigate in the episodes ahead.
