EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting deep in the Kokuyo Arc, Episode 23 follows directly from the ambush Tsuna's group suffered in Episode 22 at the hands of Mukuro's assassins, escalating the conflict from skirmishes into a decisive phase. This is still early in Reborn!'s 203-episode run, but the Kokuyo Arc represents the show's first major tonal shift from gag comedy to genuine shonen battle stakes. The events here lay essential groundwork for the arc's climactic encounters and further define the group dynamic that will carry through the much longer arcs ahead.
