Episode Context

Coming off 'You Really Do Hate Cats!', which explored Ranma's feline phobia, this episode pivots to expand the Amazon storyline by bringing in Cologne, a character who will become a recurring fixture and martial arts mentor-antagonist. Her arrival deepens Shampoo's presence in the series and directly sets the stage for 'Behold! The Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire Technique,' where new martial arts training challenges emerge from this introduction. At episode 21 of 161, the show is still firmly in its world-building phase, layering in characters who will drive conflicts for arcs to come.
