Episode Context

This is the middle chapter of the Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics storyline, following episode 11 where Akane stepped up as a substitute competitor after Kodachi's sabotage. The personal wager introduced here raises the emotional and competitive stakes considerably, threading Ranma directly into the conflict and setting up the climactic competition that resolves in the next episode.
