This was a breather for all the investigating they've done in the previous episodes. It was actually cute and fun to watch as we see a different side of Akechi.

The descent into madness of Kagami is tragic and the visual representation of his breakdown using distorted colorful lines is a smart move. This is picking up after last episode.
