We finally get King Charioce’s backstory. MAPPA does a great job humanizing a tyrant without fully excusing him. The graveyard and slum tour is great for world-building. Nina gaining control of her dragon form after a kiss is peak rom-com anime logic.

This episode is dangerously romantic considering how cursed everything around these characters already is. Nina and Charioce get a lot of focus here and the emotional chemistry genuinely sneaks up on you HARD.

Nina and Charioce finally have that long-awaited moment in the secret garden and the chemistry is just electric. However, the tension with the rebel plan keeps things stressful. I loved seeing Nina so happy even if everything else is falling apart
