Episode Context

Sitting at episode 74 of 93, this is a critical late-season Gym battle as Ash pushes toward completing his Kalos badge collection. The previous episode established the Laverre City setting through Valerie's fashion show, and this episode delivers the payoff with the actual Gym challenge. The outcome here directly shapes Ash's momentum heading into the final stretch of XY, where remaining Gym battles and the Kalos League loom ahead.
