This episode is the episode in which Serena completes her first battle and lost. Overall, I like the episode and I think the part in which Serena cries and then cuts her hair shows character development. It also represents game.

Episode Context

Sitting at the two-thirds mark of XY's 93-episode run, this episode is a critical turning point for Serena's character arc, transitioning her from a supporting companion into a competitor with her own ambitions. It follows directly from the character-bonding focus of episode 59's Pledging Tree storyline, converting that emotional groundwork into forward momentum. This debut Showcase establishes the competitive framework that will drive Serena's personal storyline through the back third of the season.
