Episode Context

Sitting just past the midpoint of XY's 93-episode run, this episode caps off the multi-episode Shalour City arc that explored Mega Evolution's lore and Korrina's journey to master it. The preceding episodes laid critical groundwork around Mega Lucario's power and control issues, making this Gym challenge feel earned rather than routine. With this badge on the line, the outcome here directly shapes the trajectory of Ash's remaining Kalos Gym quest and the adventures that follow.
