Roy using Lucario to protect the eggs was great and it shows how much more responsible he is getting as a trainer lately instead of just jumping into fights without thinking about the stakes involved

Ugh, I was so pumped for the Mega Evolution battle in 'Mega Voltage,' but it just zipped by way too fast! Honestly, it left me feeling like the whole arc was just a placeholder when the main event ended without any real back-and-forth action, forth action.

Episode Context

Coming off 'The Strong Sphere,' which tested the protagonists against powerful Pokémon-related challenges, episode 96 pivots the narrative squarely toward the Black Rayquaza mystery that has been building in the background. The introduction of the Dragon Riders faction and the Blackthorn City setting expand the scope of the quest significantly. This episode functions as a launchpad for a stretch of episodes focused on legendary Pokémon encounters and the deeper lore surrounding them.
