Larry really tried to end that battle in record time, but Quaxwell had other plans for him

the choreography during the battle was great, especially when dot had to figure out how to deal with the paralysis while fighting a gym leader.

seeing larry show up at the treasure eatery was my favorite part because he felt so authentic to the games. I loved that he actually let out a little laugh at the end of the day. even though dot lost the fight, the way she adapted her moves on the fly showed how much she has learned as a trainer.

the dance off with oricorio was pure joy to watch and showed why quaxly is such a unique partner for dot

I cannot believe how much of a brick wall Larry was during the test and his stoic face never changed once even when things got intense in the middle of the battle

that terastal staraptor looked absolutely beautiful when it finally hit the field and forced quaxwell to think fast

I finally got to see quaxly evolve after all those dance lessons and quaxwell using the staraptor moves was such a smart way to turn the fight around

tinkatink getting her first real battle against a giant dudunsparce really impressed me because she was so tiny compared to that thing

Quaxly learning those moves from Oricorio was actually adorable and it felt like a real trainer moment when Dot used that dancing rhythm to hold her own against Larry
ryme_361's avatar
ryme_361
Larry is so funny because he just wants to finish his job and go eat ramen as fast as possible

Quaxly mimicking those Oricorio dance moves during the battle was such a cool way to lead into the evolution

I was waiting for Quaxly to evolve since the start and seeing it happen during that dance with Larry was great

I am going to miss seeing the tiny duck on screen, but the way it evolved during the fight was so cool, and it really showed how much Dot has improved since the start, and it felt right that she lost against Larry because he is an actual Elite Four member, and his stoic personality makes him such a tough opponent

The way Quaxly incorporated the dancing into the battle was clever and it showed why Dot is such a smart trainer even if she lost the match in the end

I really felt for Dot when she was getting frustrated at the start and watching her pull it together was great. My highlight was definitely Quaxly finally becoming Quaxwell and using those rhythm moves to keep up with Larry. It feels like she is actually learning how to be a trainer instead of just a streamer and that evolution felt earned

Seeing a gym leader actually act like a salaryman who hates his life is hilarious, and Larry paying the bill at the end was the cherry on top

The animation when Quaxwell started dancing around that Staraptor was really smooth and looked great compared to some other episodes

Dot losing the battle against a gym leader felt more realistic and it was nice that she still passed the test

larry being exactly like his game self made the whole episode and he even paid for the meal at the end just like a real salaryman

Larry paying for the food made me laugh because he looked so exhausted after that long day

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode builds directly on the momentum from 'Food Fit for a Kingambit!' where Dot demonstrated her problem-solving abilities, now channeling that growth into a formal battle challenge against Larry in Medali. It marks a significant milestone in Dot's individual arc as a trainer, deepening her bond with her Pokémon and her confidence in high-stakes situations. The episode also sets the stage for the group's upcoming challenges by reinforcing the evolving trainer-Pokémon dynamics that will be critical moving forward.
