Geeta finally felt like a real champion with actual passion when she was talking about Area Zero and the history of the region

I think Liko going up against Grusha for the next training test is going to be such a tough match for her

I really liked seeing Raifort being way less scary than her game version and that Zoroark prank was actually funny

gyomei_goliath
I finally feel like we are getting somewhere with the Area Zero stuff even if they can't go there yet because of that incident and the connection between Terapagos and the Terastal phenomenon makes so much more sense now plus seeing Raifort nerd out about history was a nice change of pace from her being a creep in the games

Dot getting Larry for her next battle is such a funny pairing and her reaction to the news made the whole wait for the next stage worth it

Raifort going into detail about the Paldean Empire makes the setting feel so much more lived in and seeing that ancient castle in the flashbacks really grounded the search for Laqua
riruku_rhythm's avatar

The way the episode tied the Terastal phenomenon back to the ancient history of Paldea made the world feel massive and those drawings of Lucius were a great touch

Liko getting assigned to battle Grusha is going to be such a tough test for her, especially with the rule about having to use two pokemon for the match.

Seeing those Carbink and Nacli tied into the ancient rituals of the region was such a cool detail and it makes the history of the Paldea ruins feel much deeper and more mysterious

Zoroark using its illusion ability to trick the group was a cool moment from Raifort today. It was a nice way to show off her personality before she started diving into all the lore about Laqua

The lore dump about Rakua and the ancient history was a lot to take in but Liko deciding to step up and learn the truth about Terapagos kept the episode from feeling too dry

I was so happy to see Raifort and that Zoroark finally showing up because those illusions were hilarious and it made the history lesson way less boring than a normal school day

All that energy Raifort had while jumping around and getting intense about the ancient adventurer history really sold her character and it makes the search for Rakua feel like a proper grand quest

Clavell mentioning an accident in Area Zero makes you wonder if this show takes place after the games, especially with Penny already there

Liko getting matched with Grusha for the next test is going to be stressful since he seems so intense
saguaro's avatar

Raifort felt so much more relaxed than she did in the games and I think that helped the history lesson. Hearing her talk about the Paldean empire and seeing her Zoroark use those illusions made all that lore cool

I'm glad they made Geeta actually helpful with the info instead of just having her stand there like in the game

Terapagos and the land of Laqua have so much mystery behind them and this lore dump was exactly what the story needed

Liko keeps getting the toughest gym leaders to fight and Grusha is going to be a huge challenge. The new two on two rules for the Terastal test sound like they will make things way more intense

Learning all that stuff about Lucius and Terapagos made the history lesson feel so much bigger to me, and it was cool seeing Penny working for the league. It feels like the anime is actually building on the games instead of just repeating them and seeing that Dot has to face Larry in the next round of training was the best reveal

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the high-energy clashes against Paldea's Elite Four in Episode 56, this episode downshifts into investigative territory, prioritizing the mysteries of Terapagos and its ancient origins. It serves as a critical world-building bridge, enriching the lore before the protagonists move into Terastal Training and face Paldea's gym leaders. The revelations here are clearly foundational for the challenges ahead, making it a setup episode that rewards patient viewers.
