I don't know, that Elite Four Copperajah getting one-shot felt a little bit too easy for me, even with Dot and Iono's awesome planning. I was seriously bracing for an intense, drawn-out battle, so seeing it go down so fast was a huge curveball!

Larry looked like he just wanted to go home after that Glalie explosion took out half the field in like five seconds

That moment when Iono zapped Quaxly was completely out of left field for me! But then, seeing Dot look so genuinely crushed, even after the victory, really caught me off guard; it's like she couldn't accept her own success. I just want her to realize how capable she actually is.

What a blast seeing the students team up with their mentors, though I swear some of those fights ended before I even got to properly blink! Coral just going full chaos and blowing everything sky-high made me snicker, because that's *so* her. My only real gripe is that the Elite Four seemed pretty dialed back, but I'm betting we'll see them really let loose later on.

Liko staring down Rika at the very end of the episode made the tension so high and Katy looked ready to help her handle those ground types

It was a bit of a letdown that Sidian and Coral had their matches cut so short, especially since Rika and Larry are such big fan favorites from the games.

Watching Roy and Brassius sync up their moves made me happy because it showed how much Roy has learned from the art guy and that Baxcalibur looked so cool

Coral is actually unhinged for making Glalie use self-destruct like that and poor Larry just had to stand there and take it

You can really see the chemistry between Iono and Dot now and their strategy to power up Bellibolt was actually pretty clever for a student match

Poppy is a literal child but she is still so intimidating as an Elite Four member and it was honestly just confusing seeing a flamethrower and energy ball just hovering there in midair without any physics

Poppy being so much stronger than the students made the whole vibe of that match feel different and it makes sense that she did not even need to use her full power

Sango deciding to blow up the entire field with Glalie was the most unhinged thing she has done yet and seeing Larry just deal with it was hilarious

Dot and Iono working together for that Zap Cannon setup showed so much growth for her compared to how shy she was at the start of the series

I was so happy to see Tinkaton for the first time because that hammer is just as huge as I imagined and Poppy is actually kind of scary for a little kid

Poppy and her Tinkaton were so scary and that Sandstorm really changed everything about the fight because it forced everyone to think way more about the environment than just their moves

The way Brassius and Roy had to coordinate against a dragon master really showed how much Roy still needs to learn about tag team matches and using his partner to cover his weaknesses in battle

I actually shouted when Hassel let Roy hit him with fire just to activate Thermal Exchange because that was such a smart move to show him how dragons actually fight in a real battle

I thought Dot holding her own against Poppy was great and that Terastallization moment with Quaxly was everything I needed for her character development today
mello_maverick's avatar

Hassel acting like a mentor while still being an absolute wall was the highlight for me because Roy couldn't just brute force through him with fire moves and had to actually use his brain for once

My heart sank for Roy when his flamethrower actually made Hassel's Baxcalibur stronger but his positive attitude afterwards really shows how much he has grown as a trainer since the start of the journey

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode directly follows the Terastal Training arc, serving as the first real test of everything Liko, Roy, and Dot learned under their respective Gym Leader mentors. It functions as both a culmination of recent training episodes and a launchpad for individual Elite Four matchups, specifically setting the stage for Liko's battle against Rika in Episode 56. It marks a clear escalation in the series' stakes, transitioning from structured lessons to high-level competitive encounters.
