Rayu stealing that ball just to get a power up for his Grafaiai was pretty messed up but seeing the shopkeeper turn him away for trying to trade stolen goods was a good touch

The whole thing with Strong Spheres being sold out in the open feels weird because they clearly hurt the Pokemon and you would think the Champions would do something about it and seeing Uruto finally get some focus was cool though and Dragonite is a classic choice for him even if the actual reveal felt a bit fast for how much they hyped it up

I was kind of expecting something crazier than Dragonite but seeing it fly out of a Dusk Ball was still a cool moment and it fits Uruto way better than I thought it would

I actually liked the fight over the messy room, because it made the friendship between Roy and Uruto feel way more authentic than the usual stuff we see

That Dragonite reveal is such a massive tease for Z-A and I bet that Dusk Ball is hiding a Mega Stone or something and the wait for the next episode is going to be tough

Uruto being socially awkward and then bonding with the painter guy was sweet even after the betrayal and it was good to finally learn more about him after he was mostly in the background

I felt so bad for Roy when he realized those rocks were actually Uruto's treasures and it was a nice way to show they are becoming real friends after that big argument earlier

Dragonite coming out of that Dusk Ball was such a surprise and it makes me wonder if we are really getting a Mega form soon since the title hinted at it so much

Protecting Ryan and Grafaiai with mega evolution was a really big shift for Ult compared to how he used to act

Everyone was convinced Liko would be the one to get a Dragonite later on, so seeing it come out of that ball was a total shock.

Ult not even knowing what was inside his own Dusk Ball until it saved him and Ryan is such a weird detail for his character

It feels like the show is playing it safe by giving Dragonite to Ult and Roy having Lucario when there are so many new mons to choose from

I didn't think Ult had it in him to mega evolve Sableye and seeing it happen during that Darmanitan fight was awesome

That Dusk Ball mystery was driving everyone crazy and nobody would have guessed a Dragonite was hiding in there the whole time
shizu_serenity's avatar

Roy seems way more patient with Ult now than he used to be and it makes you wonder where his old singing personality went
jolyne_cujoh's avatar
jolyne_cujoh
I honestly feel so conflicted about Ult having a Dragonite, because it was such a cool reveal in the moment, but it also feels like we are just repeating the Journeys team again. Roy has Lucario and now this happens and I just wish we could see some more unique Paldean mons instead of the same heavy hitters every single season.

Ult used mega evolution with Sableye to save Ryan and Grafaiai and it actually worked against that Darmanitan

I really expected Liko to get a Dragonite and that reveal with Ult actually caught me off guard

Putting that specific Pokémon in a Dusk Ball is the weirdest combination ever but the way it automatically returns to its ball after the battle is a pretty unique mechanic

Roy going after Ult after their big blow up shows how much he has grown and seeing them work together to stop the thieves was a great way to end the fight

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 105's lighter mistaken-identity antics, this episode pivots sharply into Ult's personal arc and his strained relationship with Roy, marking a significant character development beat deep into the series' run. It functions as the first half of a two-part emotional arc, directly setting up Episode 107's exploration of the fallout from Ult's solo decision and the group's path toward reconciliation.
