Episode Context

As episode 1 of 192, this is the definitive launchpad for the entire Advanced Generation saga, resetting the companion roster and geographic setting after the conclusion of the Johto arc. It establishes May as a central figure alongside Ash and plants the seeds for the friendships, rivalries, and regional challenges that will define the Hoenn journey. Everything introduced here, characters, tone, and stakes, serves as the foundation the next several dozen episodes will build on.
