Episode Context

Coming off Episode 8's introduction of Shirota's childhood friend Ellie and the jealousy it sparked in Takamine, Episode 9 smartly redirects attention back to the core duo, reinforcing their bond through competitive intimacy. Sitting at the three-quarter mark of this 12-episode run, it functions as a bridge episode, grounding the relationship before the stakes shift with a school play storyline in Episode 10. The playful power dynamics explored here lay essential groundwork for the deeper emotional territory the final stretch is building toward.
