Pink no Curtain
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Shy, awkward, and unlucky with women, Okuyama is a young supermarket stocker just kind of muddling through life. Then his sister Noriko moves in, and suddenly his quiet little apartment feels a lot more complicated. She's warm, she's present, and she has absolutely no idea what's going on inside his head. He does. And that gap between them is where this 1987 OVA lives. Based on a manga by George Akiyama — a writer known for not shying away from uncomfortable human territory — Pink no Curtain leans into its slice-of-life roots more than you might expect from something in this genre. It's less about shock value and more about the quiet tension of someone sitting with feelings they know they shouldn't have, in a space they share with someone who trusts them completely. The domestic realism grounds it in a way that feels closer to Fusuma no Oku or Moonlight Lady than anything flashier. If you've seen Angel of Darkness and wanted something with a slower, more character-focused pace, this scratches a similar itch but with a noticeably more grounded tone. It's a single episode, so the commitment is low. Just know going in that it treats the awkwardness of its premise seriously rather than glossing over it — which, depending on what you're looking for, is either exactly the point or a reason to skip it entirely.
