A unique beginning to a legendary story! The art style is a visual masterpiece, like a moving painting. It's not just about sports, it's about the psychology of talent vs. effort. The sound design is crisp, and the tension in the first match is elite.

Peco talks a big game but gets HUMBLED. Smile holding back against him for years? Kong sees right through it. the way he dismantles Peco while talking about being exiled to the "eastern end of the Earth" is cold. this art style is weird but the movement is fluid 😤

Episode Context

As the first of only eleven episodes, this premiere carries enormous weight in establishing the character dynamics and thematic DNA that will drive the entire series. It plants the seeds for Smile's internal conflict and Peco's eventual reckoning with his own limitations, threads that will intensify rapidly as rival players enter the picture. Everything introduced here pays off; nothing is wasted in a season this tight.
