Phantom of the Idol
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Kazuki Yoshino and Yuuya Niyodo are idols who make up the duo ZINGS. While Kazuki gives his all in every performance, Yuuya views the job as just another means of making money. Yuuya's apathetic attitude toward the fans and inability to take his job seriously causes his manager to give him an ultimatum: unless he starts putting in more effort, he will be fired. Backstage, Yuuya meets Asahi Mogami, an idol dressed in a colorful costume. Asahi would have had a bright future ahead of her—had she not died a year prior. Even as a ghost, Asahi wants nothing more than to perform for fans again. When she finds out that Yuuya does not hold the same passion for the idol life that she once did, she is overcome by a fit of rage and demands that he let her take his place. In a strange twist, Yuuya wakes up to find that Asahi has possessed him and can do what he is too lazy to do himself. With Asahi performing for him, Yuuya thinks he has a ticket to an easy idol life. However, Asahi has other plans. Though she is no longer alive, she wishes for Yuuya to find the ambition that she still has. Together, she wants them to become the best idol the world has ever seen. But can an unmotivated man like Yuuya ever care about anything besides money?

Such a happy final episode and a happy ending to our journey with Zings and their shenanigans. Hearing the music, combined with the growth we have seen them have throughout makes this very satisfying to watch and enjoy. Encore!
For the most part, it's quite skippable since part of the episode is a recap and slows down the pace a bit. The end of the episode did surprise me and made me even shed a few tears. They never miss at tugging at your heart strings. Very anxious to see the finale of the show.
Solid episode all around. It was very fun to follow along with the fangirls of the boys and to see the different styles the duo went through. Funny, lighthearted and a simple story.
This episode is just filled with so much love and heartfelt moments, without leaving behind some of the comedy aspects of the show. Truly a great episode to smile hugely with and maybe even shed a couple of happy tears.
My heart always goes out to Asahi, she's truly an idol that's passionate to be one. The more slice of life vibe of the episode was really nice to watch and we still got good moments of character development.
As the show goes on, the emotional sides of our main characters take main stage. Seeing how things play out and what doesn't work for them is such an enjoyable ride to be on that you can't help but also cheer them on.
Very fun episode in general, I appreciate it a lot that the side characters of the show had more of the spotlight this time around. An easy, sweet watch to enjoy a silly story.
The show keeps balancing pretty well the comedy and the heartfelt topics of the story. It keeps you invested in their shenanigans but also their thoughts and hearts.
The finale was awesome, it gave me goosebumps. 😱✨ Especially the last ending song. 🎶🔥 Must watch finale! 🎬👏 Overall - Hype, 10/10! ⭐️🔥

Zing had a calendar photoshoot . This episode is the most fun so far! 😄 And their fans' funny struggle moments 😂. Overall — Otako comedy gold, 9/10! ⭐️🎭
It's a very fun start to the show, it sets up pretty well what we can expect to come. The changes in animation style in the episode made the watch more dynamic and very entertaining.
This finale was perfect, seeing the amount of songs sung throughout the show reappear here and seeing everyone just love the performance was amazing. Makes me wish this concert was real.
This episode was a tearjerker for how far Yuya has come with being an idol. Now we know all that hard work was worth it. I’m excited for the final episode.
The fangirls definitely got the spotlight with their wild behavior. It’s hilarious to see their reactions to every little costume they wanted to see their idols in.
Okay, this episode made me feel so hopeful and cheerful. This one has become my favorite so far in this series for not only the music but the character development.
This episode was a lot of fun and to see how far idols go to to be themselves or show off their image. I really want a spinoff of the fangirls, they’re funny.
Setouchi misunderstood his own feelings. Zings has an announcement 📢 and a new song 🎶. I like the new song more! 👍 Overall — New soundtrack: 8/10 ⭐️
