Patlabor: The Movie

When you think of mecha anime, what comes first into your mind is series like gundam, maybe code geass, neon genesis evangelion, etc. This movie is relatively old but can still give you a good watch. Every frame feels soulful and captivating. I enjoyed it coz it felt unexpected.

The movie was from the 1990s, so the graphics were old. It built tension in the beginning, but in the middle of the one-hour mark, there was a lot of talking and heavy parts that were hard to digest. The funny parts felt forced, but after that, the intense action scenes occurred at the end. Overall, 6/10

Ok, pertama-tama intronya sangat-sangat iconic. Kek theatrical banget adegan hutannya. Gila banget kualitas visualnya. Anime 80-90an emang nggak ada lawannya. Aku kagum juga dengan sinematografinya, isolasi plotnya, pacingnya yang perfect dan hal realistis seperti birokrasi dan market industri teknologi yang dipaparkan dengan gamblang. Benar-benar bakal jadi rekomendasi dan inspirasi. Standar genre sci-fiku jadi makin naik setelah nonton ini. Yang aku suka juga adalah part deduksinya yang tajam banget. Asuma pintar dan lucu juga waktu jengkel. Gotou sangat cool dan aura farming sepanjang film. Noa, aku pikir dia bakal meredup dari karakter yang lain, tapi ternyata bagiannya udah disiapin juga. Aku suka bagaimana writernya menukar peran mainstream antara karakter laki-laki dan perempuan. Biasanya karakter laki-laki lebih ke peran brute atau action, sementtara perempuan mendapat peran intelijen. Di sini ditukar dan itu sangat menarik.
