This marks a turning point where survival becomes about understanding and outthinking the opposing side. As humans and parasites grow more aware of each other, conflict becomes more strategic. Tamiya’s bond with her child suggests emerging emotion, blurring instinct and feeling

Damn, the episode opens strong with Tamiya effortlessly defeating her fellow parasites. This episode doesn’t rely on action; instead, it builds something much bigger, especially highlighting Tamiya’s evolving emotions toward motherhood.

Easily one of the best episodes in this series! The character development of not just our protagonists but also their enemy, Ryoko, was truly a masterpiece. I really liked how the development of the characters going to a full 180 and vice versa. Truly a very recommendable anime!

Reiko's bridge scene is the series' most emotionally complex moment. Her instinct to protect her son surprises even herself. Shiro's desperate gamble is tragic. The snowy park confrontation between Shinichi and Reiko is hauntingly beautiful and perfectly staged.

Kuramori crossing a line is a dark turn. him standing on that cliff is uncomfortable. Ryouko's reaction shows she's a parasite who learned something deeper. Shinichi showing up to witness this, realizing she's more human than he's been lately. Ryouko's story isn't over. 👶

This is the best episode that I watched so far in the entire series. The voice acting and the drama on this episode is super excellent. Reiko is one of the best deuteragonist character from all of the animes that I had watched.
I highly recommend to watch this anime.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the two-thirds mark following the escalating human-parasite tensions of 'Happy Family,' episode 17 slows down to interrogate the consequences of those collisions through Reiko Tamura's arc. It serves as a crucial bridge into 'More than Human,' deepening the thematic groundwork around identity and coexistence that will define the series' final stretch. This is a setup episode in the best sense — one that redefines character stakes before the endgame accelerates.
