EPISODE REVIEWS

A very good first episode of this series, with a mystery that lies not so much in the episode itself as in the new girl, who is a complete enigma; it also leaves us wondering how the story will unfold, eager to see what happens next.

Talking about weirdness, this is probably one of the strangest ways to open up a mystery anime, with all the mind-bending animations and visuals, and the bizarre interactions between characters. As a new viewer, I basically have no idea where this is going, although the plot is clear and the objective of the cast is laid bare through exposition. I feel like I need to check it out more; let's see what it has to offer.

Continuing from the events with Kaiki and Nadeko, we gone back to the moment Ougi was introduced to Araragi. As always with Shaft amazing storyboarding and visual style, the development of the story of Araragi's past was well conveyed along with the thought-provoking dialogue coming with his self-proclaimed junior, as well as Oshino's niece, Oshino Ougi. Even after we know of Araragi's story from when he first met Hanekawa and became a vampire, it is interesting to see this episode explore his story a bit back to his past before the events we now know.
