For a sports anime, this lacks the fundamentals of the sport it's trying to promote. The MC being a beginner got no such things, it's like they just decided an anime and make the MC ride a bike and call it a sports anime.

One of the things I miss from old school anime is the outrageous antics for humor, but I did not miss the secondhand embarrassment. It's also not everyday that in sports anime, a regular accident that anyone can relate is given the gravitas it deserved to show how Shinozaki has such low standard for himself, that he could brush off from being hurt. But I especially love the Shinozaki's growing discovery of different experience and different views after coming into contact with the club.
