This episode begins with a glimpse of Amane and Ijichi backstory. How they try to understand each other is so sweet and quite funny. Furthermore, their friendship deepened, and they became increasingly close. Overall, this episode is enjoyable to watch.

La historia de amistad de Ijichi y Amane es muy buena, con malentendidos como en la vida real pero que se despejan una vez vas conociendo a la otra persona y como es!!

This episode was so much fun to watch! I first thought we'd only be learning about how Ijichi and Amane became friends, which was already engaging enough, but I didn't expect it to tie back to the very first episode in that way. It made me enjoy this episode a whole notch more!

Capítulo de nostalgia que nos muestra el inicio de la amistad entre las chicas y como son mejores juntas.

Kotoko literally willed this friendship into existence by sheer force of personality and the flashback to her peace sign introduction was just too cute

Amane acting like an ice queen in the beginning makes her current personality so much better because you can tell she finally feels safe being a nerd

The game center scene was so awkward to watch, but it really highlighted the difference between Kotoko being a social butterfly and Amane needing her space

It was a total shock to find out they weren't childhood friends so I enjoyed seeing Kotoko keep trying to befriend Amane even when she was getting that cold treatment

Watching Kotoko manage her home life with her brothers gave me a lot of respect for her character, and seeing her and Amane finally switch to first names at the end was the perfect way to wrap up their origin story since it feels like they finally dropped all their guards with each other after that stressful game center drama

Getting the first episode from Amane's perspective with that limited edition eraser is hilarious because she was basically dying to talk about Kiramon the whole time

My heart melted when they were on the swings and Amane admitted she was just a huge otaku for Kiramon this whole time while Kotoko already knew

That cherry blossom scene when Kotoko and Amane first met felt just like a romance anime and it explains so much about why they are so close now

Having Kei show up at the apartment to apologize was such a sweet moment and it shows how much she actually values the friendship

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the slumber party chaos of Episode 8, this episode steps back to fill in the history between Kotoko and Kei, giving the duo's dynamic real roots rather than just assumed chemistry. With three episodes left in the season, this backstory installment does essential groundwork, understanding where these two started makes where they're headed hit considerably harder.
