This episode has Heizō telling Ojun a story before bed about thieves, and it turns into one of the heaviest episodes so far. It uses a different storytelling style compared to the others, which makes it stand out. It follows a story from the past that slowly connects to different people and situations. The pacing is slower and the story feels more tragic. A lot of it just plays out step by step without much being said out loud. It keeps your attention because of how everything is shown, and the visuals also stand out more than usual in a few scenes. Worth watching if you’re into slower, heavier episodes.
The funeral scene mimics Edo era scrolls, followed by lush rainstorm imagery that highlights grief. The master who bullied Isotaro is drawn in a pastel cartoonishness that reveals the shallowness of his character .The framing as a bedtime story makes it even more haunting.
Un episodio dedicado a una dinámica interesante a la vez que dramática sobre el sentido de la justicia, con una banda sonora que acompaña muy bien el drama de la época.
