Synopsis

Fresh off her arrival in a town literally called Onegai, Konomi Inori is already on day one praying to a goddess statue in the plaza to become an AiPri — basically a magically powered idol. Most kids would have to grind through auditions and rejection arcs before anything happens, but Konomi stumbles into the real deal almost immediately. She meets Aoi Yumemiya, an already-famous AiPri, along with Fortu, a talking stuffed animal on a quest to find someone who can grant a mysterious wish. Aoi hands Konomi a magical mirror pact, and just like that, her idol journey kicks off with a mentor already in her corner. What makes this one stand out from the usual idol fare is how upfront it is about the fantasy elements. This isn't a story about grinding through vocal lessons and navigating industry politics. The mirror pact gives performances a magical girl transformation edge, and Fortu's wish-granting quest adds an actual narrative hook beyond "become the top idol." There's goddess mythology woven into the world-building, which gives the whole thing a different texture than a straight music show. If you liked Aikatsu or PriPara, this is clearly in that lineage — bright, colorful, and built around aspirational idol energy. Fans of Waccha PriMagi will especially feel at home with the magic-meets-performance formula. It's a cozy watch with enough fantasy scaffolding to keep things from feeling formulaic. The mentor-rookie dynamic between Aoi and Konomi gives it a nice emotional anchor right from the start.

Two wishes at once and the team splitting up to handle both is a fun dynamic. Aoi's sister being one of the requests adds a personal layer. The 'nothing serious' situation with Satsuki feels uncomfortably real. Busy episode with a lot of heart. That cliffhanger ending though.

A sleepover episode and it delivers. Aoi pulling out a debriefing session at a slumber party is so her. Wakaba's energy coming home is infectious. Gumi's request at the end is really sweet. Cozy and warm with just enough drive to keep things moving forward.

Inori's grandpa being the mayor is such a cute detail. The festival idea coming straight from his wish is very wholesome. Things not going as planned at first feels real and relatable. This show has such a warm community spirit to it. Rooting for everyone here.
