Aikatsu! x PriPara the Movie: Deai no Kiseki!

For over a decade, the biggest kid-oriented idol anime franchises have existed side by side without ever crossing paths — until now. Aikatsu! x PriPara the Movie brings Akari Ōzora from Starlight Academy and Laala Manaka from Parajuku together when their worlds literally collide through some kind of mysterious dimensional merge. One minute everything's normal, the next Laala's family restaurant is glitching out and the Starlight dorms are shrinking. Nobody knows why it's happening, but both casts figure out pretty quickly that the answer probably involves doing what they do best: performing together on one stage. The whole thing is a celebration of both franchises hitting their 10th anniversaries, and it leans into that energy without being cynical about it. Original songs, a blend of both shows' animation styles, and a tone that's genuinely warm and wholesome. If you grew up with either series, this is pure nostalgia fuel. If you didn't, it still works as a self-contained, feel-good idol movie about friendship and music pulling people (and apparently entire universes) together. If you liked Love Live! School Idol Project or The Idolmaster for their earnest takes on idol culture and teamwork, this hits similar notes but skews younger and more playful. Fans of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live will also feel right at home with the PriPara side of things. It's one movie, about 90 minutes — low commitment, high charm.
