Pudding actually erasing Sanji's memory right after their kiss completely blindsided me, I just couldn't believe she'd sacrifice her own shot at happiness like that just so he could go be a pirate without any regrets. It makes me wonder if he'll ever truly know how much she cared, and that's a really tough thought.

Big Mom is such a nightmare and seeing how much she messed up her own kids makes Puddings sacrifice feel even heavier because she finally found someone who loved her for being herself

I am actually sobbing because of how Sanji just walks away not even knowing what she did for him and it hurts so much that she is left there alone with that little piece of film

My chest just ached for Pudding, all alone and openly weeping in that alley. it's one thing to see her finally show her genuine feelings, but my stomach dropped when she just wiped them away, making me wonder if she truly believes she's not allowed to have those pure emotions.

That orchestral music playing as the arc closed really felt like some tragic opera, and it actually breaks my heart thinking Sanji will never know Pudding truly kissed him. She wiped his memory just to spare him the pain, which makes me wonder if he’d have understood her feelings if she hadn’t.

The way the music swelled when Sanji looked back at the island was beautiful, but Pudding standing there with those film strips in her hand just broke me

I cannot believe Pudding actually took that memory away from Sanji and left him thinking nothing happened at all and it just hurts so much to see her crying alone in the alleyway

I am actually crying after seeing Pudding cut that film strip and Sanji has no idea what he just lost and it hurts so much

The animation for those memory threads looked so cool and it really hurt when she actually pulled the trigger and took the kiss out of his head

Brulee knowing that Katakuri was lying about his back never touching the ground was such a sweet moment and it really changed how the whole Charlotte family looks

Having Sanji back on the ship cooking for the crew is a nice change of pace, especially since Pudding is back there hurting all by herself now

Big Mom singing while her crew destroys everything is pretty unsettling but the pacing during the escape felt a bit dragged out even with the cool orchestral music playing in the background

Seeing Katakuri lie on his back while Brûlée cleans his wounds and talks about their childhood showed that he was only acting tough to protect his brothers and sisters

Pudding is a totally different person now and her choosing to let Sanji leave without any guilt shows how much she changed during this whole wedding mess

Pudding, tearing away that moment of her and Sanji kissing so he wouldn't ever feel guilty, just totally gutted me. I mean, my heart absolutely ached watching her sob all alone in the dirt as the Sunny sailed away, knowing she sacrificed her own happiness just for him to be free.

My heart sank when she snipped that memory of the kiss because Sanji will never know how much she actually cared about him and he just walked away smiling

I really wasn't ready for that ending at all and I'm sitting here wondering how she could be so selfless, Pudding erased the best moment of her life just so Sanji wouldn't have to worry about her or feel bad for leaving her behind on that island with her family, and seeing her sob on the floor was the most painful thing

Learning about how Katakuri and Brulee looked out for each other as kids really makes you look at the Charlotte family differently because they just want to protect their own

Hearing Soul Pocus play while Big Mom was singing through the chaos made the whole ending feel like a weird dark play and it fit the mood of the island perfectly

I honestly think the silent film style for Pudding's memory loss was really clever, because it made the tragedy of her love feel so much more personal and heavy

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 877 functions as an emotional coda to the Whole Cake Island arc, arriving just after the Straw Hats' harrowing escape from Big Mom's territory. It processes the fallout of that escape through the lens of Sanji and Pudding's relationship, delivering character closure before the narrative transitions toward the Reverie and eventually Wano. This is the bridge between one of One Piece's most emotionally complex arcs and the world-shaking developments waiting ahead.
